Wine Advocate Review Rated 92 The 2009 Expresivo is a blend of 50% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, with the balance Tannat and Petit Verdot. It offers up considerably more sophistication and complexity in its suave personality. In the glass it displays enough structure to evolve for several years and will deliver prime drinking from 2014 to 2024.
Wine Enthusiast Review Rated 91 Expresivo is five grapes that have been blended into an excellent whole. Aromas of dust, raspberry and simple spice lead to an alert palate of cherry and cassis. On its own the acidity may seem to stick out, but with food that won't be an issue. Otherwise, there's good posture and length, and the oak is integrated.
Wine Tasting Notes Wafting aromas of ripe red currants, black cherries and mildly smoky and sweet vanilla oak. Layers of currant fruit, dense black cherry, and notes of brown spice (cocoa, nutmeg), dark chocolate, and hints of sandalwood. Keeps showing its stuff as it breathes in the glass - for folks who want the full experience and may be a bit impatient, decanting is a good idea. Perfect balance, great concentration and length, and loaded with fine, ripe tannins for having with food or for aging. This wine should also age beautifully for 10-25 years. Pairs well with a wide range of foods including grilled steak, roasted pork loin, veal, medium-strong cheeses, and most cream sauces. 50% malbec, 20% cabernet sauvignon, 15% syrah, 10% tannat and 5% petit verdot; a selection from the best blocks of old vines; aged for 14 months in new oak, 70% French and 30% American
