Wine Tasting Notes
The McDowell Valley is currently home to better than 100 acres of Syrah. Old vines, young vines, new clones, old clones, all planted to a variety of rootstocks on a number of different soils. This Shiraz is produced from the younger vine plantings at McDowell. Each lot of Syrah is crushed and fermented separately before being barreled down for oak aging. Once the wine has matured, it is blended to obtain the balance and flavor in a wine that will both drink well when young and continue to age gracefully. Its wines like this that has made Syrah the fastest growing variety in California. This is an easy drinking version of its big brother at McDowell. In your face plumy fruit with hints of black pepper and black licorice. A perfect wine for every day drinking, it will match well with Pepperoni Pizza, BBQ Chicken, or grilled lamb chops with fresh mint.
