From Ramos Pinto's two Douro Superior vineyards, one high altitude providing the freshness to the wine, one along the banks of the Coa giving the arid Douro florals that make this wine compelling. There's a wild tone to the succulent raspberry fruit, a scent of violets and schist. The flavors continue to extend with air, lasting with a comfortable balance and elegant feel. This should be reaching its best around ten years from the vintage, and its freshness should carry it for years after that.

Intense and alluring, with smoky aromas and loads of rich and ripe flavors of dark plum, black current and dark cherry. This is a full-throttle red that is muscular but balanced. Finished with silky tannins and delicious notes of cream and spice. Drink now through 2008.
