Wine Advocate Review Rated 90 The estate's 2009 Montegrilli (50% Nebbiolo, 50% Barbera) is a blockbuster. It possesses awesome richness in a big, fruit-driven style. Despite the wine's size, it remains vibrant and very well-delineated, qualities that are found in the top wines of 2009. The tannins build on the long finish, so the wine will clearly need another year or two in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016.
Wine Tasting Notes An intense ruby red color with a slight orange rim. The harmonious balanced nose is a pleasant blend of flower and fruit fragrances, delicate spices with rose, violet and vanilla undertones. It has a fresh, lively palate, with harmonious acid, tannin and alcohol components. The wine is suave, elegant, well bodied with a long-lasting finish. It evokes freshly crushed wild berries, raspberry and blackcurrant. It goes well with rich main courses like roasts and well-matured cheese.
