Wine Spectator Review Rated 89 Big and rather rustic, with raspberry and briary underbrush aromas that lead to ripe plum, sage and spicy caramel flavors. Drink now through 2016.
Wine Tasting Notes Pleasantly devious mischief abounds from these dry-farmed, head pruned, old vine vineyards in the Shenendoah Valley. This Sierra Foothill valley is renowned for its old vine Zin vineyards, where fiery red volcanic soils produce fruit with intense, earthy character. The 100-plus-year old vines of the original Grandpere Vineyard, along with the 40-year old vines of The Deaver and Linstead Vineyards produce a wine that is chewy and spicy, rich with blackberry fruit and a hint of velvet vanilla oak. Blended with a touch of Syrah from the Bailey Vineyard. Maverick The Jam Bomb...mischievous fun!
