VinoUS Media Review
The 2013 Cabernet Franc is a real standout. Bold and beautifully perfumed throughout, the 2013 is laced with bold red-hued fruit, mint, rose petal and pine, all of which blossom effortlessly in the glass. Hints of pomegranate, sweet spices and blood orange add further nuance. This expression of Franc seen through the lens of Howell Mountain is absolutely delicious. (Antonio Galloni)
Wine Advocate Review
Cabernet Franc has done well on Howell Mountain, and the 2013 Cabernet Franc (485 cases) is a beauty. It is 100% Cabernet Franc aged in 60% new French oak. Gorgeous floral notes intermixed with brambleberry and blueberry, with a hint of dark raspberry and chocolate are all present in this relatively full-bodied, fleshy Cabernet Franc. Its softness and up-front complexity already suggest drinking now and over the next decade or more.
Wine Tasting Notes
On the palate the La Jota Cabernet Franc has dark raspberry, black tea, and candied walnuts. The faithful Howell Mountain shale contributes slight minerality. Full bodied and complex, the palate is rich with tannins.
