Process is fairly simple and instructions are clear. My crew much preferred the Pale Rail...which didn't have nearly as much "odd" flavor. I look forward to trying the "Logger". Overall awesome idea and weight/space saver...just don't get the Black Hops.

Like others have said, the idea is terrific and instructions clear. Tried the Pale and the Black Hops. Carbonation and appearance both look great. The taste is definitely lacking. It is basically too sweet, by consensus of six of us sampling it, likely due to a combination of the concentrate and the activation packs (which do leave an aftertaste). We agreed we'd leave it at home on our next portaging canoe trip (bottles and cans were not allowed where we went, but next time we will sneak in and be sure to pack out some cans). Even tried it with carbonated water instead of the activation pack. Less aftertaste but atill too sweet

The instructions are great. Making it up was easy. I was very impressed with the carbonation achieved in only three minutes. I tried all three brews. The color is ok. The nose is fair, at best. The huge flaw, though, is the aftertaste left by the activating packets. I had four "judges" sample each. All agreed we'd leave it at home on our next backpacking trip and stick with the flask of liquor. I read other good reviews so perhaps I messed up the process. Would love feedback if that's the case.

As a home brewer, I had my doubts about how effective the carbonation process would be. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! It took a little practice (second pint), but this works just as they described. The Pale Rail was nicely hopped and full flavored, but the Black Hops was amazing.
My hikin' buddy and I ran into another hiker that knew exactly what we had, and she shared her stories as we told ours. Four pints in, and we were all feeling pretty good, so we bedded down in a shelter and enjoyed a great night! The following night left us with only two pints, but it was well worth it.
Can't wait to try the new Logger...and will re-order the other two!

I bought this for backpacking because I'm tired of packing fifths of liquor and then packing the bottles out! I got mine on a Friday and tried it that night and it was very easy to use and has far has beer goes I thought it was good. It will taste really good after a long hike in to somewhere. My only disappointment was that it didn't carbonate has much has I was hoping but definitely not a big deal.
