The 2013 Noto Santa Cecilia is a smooth and delineated expression with dark fruit tones of cherry and plum that rise to the top. The wine shows no rough edges and the mouthfeel is velvety and rich. It sees 21 days of skin maceration and undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. The finished wine is then aged in two and three-year-old Allier barrique for 14 months. The grape used here is 100% Nero d'Avola. This is a very impressive vintage.
Wine Tasting Notes
The color is purple red and violet hue with flavors of red fruit such as plum, berries and liquorice. Hints of carobs, pepper grains, fig preserve and mustard. The palate shows elegance and compact tannins, rather than weighty. The taste spreads out from the centre of the palate, filling the mouth with its balanced texture and a certain tang. The wine is a Planeta's interpretation of Nero D'Avola. Perfect with all meats and Sicilian dishes. Wonderful with mushrooms, it withstands the oiliness of aromatic smoked hams and meats, liver and goat meats.
