Wine Advocate Review
A blend of 50% Shiraz, 30% Mataro and 20% Grenache, the 2009 Heinrich Shiraz Mataro Grenache has a deep garnet-purple color and aromas of warm cassis, crushed blueberries, baking spices and dried plums with hints of toast and forest floor. Medium bodied with a good amount of juicy fruit in the mouth and crisp acid to enliven, it is softly textured with a medium level of tannins and finishes long. Drink it now to 2016.
Wine Tasting Notes
Three classic varieties have come together in this wine and produced a full bodied yet soft wine with a complex structure of the fruit oak and gentle tannins. Each variety adds its individual talents with nuances of chocolate, raspberry, beef stockpot and a berry fruit sweetness. The finish is dry and the flavors linger on the palate with subtle oak and tannin adding to the fruit characters creating a full and comprehensive wine that will drink well now but also benefit from cellaring.
