Fruit quality is paramount to wine quality. Everything that has happened in the vineyard during the growing season, even many growing seasons before, has an impact on the outcome of the wine. The vineyard is where winemaking begins.

Once the grapes are in the winery, it is the winemaker's job to best express the characteristics of each vineyard and variety using different winemaking techniques. Even though winemakers have a command of the process, there are always surprises along the way and many unexpected outcomes. This is what keeps them fascinated with this ancient art, year in and year out.

Honig Vineyard and Winery is more than a family business - it's an extended family. Everything we do reflects the collaborative spirit, dedication and joie de vivre of the people who work here. While we don't take ourselves too seriously, our winemaking is a very serious business.

Today, with winemaker Kristin Belair, the Honig family produces Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, and Honig wines, which were once only available in one San Francisco restaurant, are now on the wine lists of hundreds of fine restaurants across the country.
