VinoUS Media Review
The 2017 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is another gorgeous appellation-level wine from Jaffurs. Inky red/purplish berry fruit, black pepper, mint, lavender and licorice add aromatic nuance, but more than anything else, the 2017 is incredibly layered and detailed within its peer group. A dollop (8%) Grenache works well in rounding out the wine's balance. Drink 2020-2027. (Antonio Galloni)
Wine Tasting Notes
In this vintage the Bien Nacido Vineyard gave us exceptional fruit. Moderate, consistent temperatures provided optimal ripeness resulting in a wine with darkness, minerality, and elegance reminiscent of a fine Côte-Rôtie Syrah. Balanced acidity makes it exciting on the pallet. Plums and dark fruit integrate with Northern Rhône Syrah characteristics of cassis, tar, white pepper and black licorice. A beautiful wine that should age magnificently.
